Terms of Service

Welcome to Medicine Hat Optometrist. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and any related services, including scheduling, access to your clinical records, and our proprietary care-plan tools. By using our platform, you agree to the terms set forth below. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your vision health data is handled with the same clinical precision and care you receive during an in-person examination.

Account Termination and Suspension
Your account may be terminated or suspended under the following conditions:

  • If we determine, in our professional judgment, that your account is being used to disseminate inaccurate or harmful health information that could mislead other patients or interfere with clinical recommendations.
  • If you repeatedly fail to follow through on scheduled appointments or required follow-up care plans, thereby compromising the integrity of your ongoing vision management.
  • If you engage in abusive, fraudulent, or illegal behavior toward our staff, other patients, or our digital infrastructure.
  • In the event of account termination, we will provide you with a written notice and a reasonable window—typically 30 days—to retrieve your personal health records. After that period, your data will be securely archived in compliance with applicable retention laws.

Content Removal and User-Generated Materials
As part of our care-plan platform, you may have the ability to share notes, feedback, or questions. We reserve the right to remove content that:

  • Contains identifiable medical misinformation that contradicts established optometric guidelines.
  • Includes unverified claims about treatments, products, or procedures that could endanger patient safety.
  • Violates the privacy of other patients or staff members, including sharing of protected health information without consent.
  • Is promotional, spam, or otherwise unrelated to your personal vision care journey.

We will notify you before removing any content unless it poses an immediate risk to patient well-being. Removed content is not recoverable, so please maintain your own copies of any information you wish to keep.

Data Handling and Clinical Privacy
Your data is managed with the same rigorous standards we apply to your eye health. Specifically:

  • All personal health information is encrypted both in transit and at rest, and access is limited to authorized clinical staff and you, the patient.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. De-identified, aggregated data may be used for internal quality improvement or research, but never in a way that could identify you individually.
  • You have the right to request a copy of your data, including exam findings and care plans, at any time. Requests can be made through your account or our Contact Us page.
  • Data retention follows state and federal guidelines: your active records are kept for at least seven years post-last visit, after which they are securely deleted or anonymized.

If you have questions about how we handle your information, please visit our Contact Us page. We are here to ensure your experience is as clear and comfortable as a routine eye exam.
